“your love is like the spring”

Your love is like the spring—so tender, green,
A hush of violets beneath a waking sky;
You come with gentle rain, so soft, unseen,
And coax the crocus up, though winter’s nigh.

Your laughter is the lilt of April streams
That tumble bright where once the world lay cold;
You stir within my heart forgotten dreams,
Like petals opening in dawn’s new gold.

With every breeze, you tincture air with hope—
Sweet promises that bud upon the trees;
The lilac and the willow softly slope,
And in their shade, my spirit finds its ease.

So let the world around us shift and turn,
For love like spring is certain to return.
