“your love is like the spring”

Your love is like the spring, a gentle sweep
Of golden dawn across the rousing earth,
While crocus stir from twilight’s dreaming sleep,
And robins sing a hymn of hopeful birth.

So tender is the rain your caring brings—
A thimbleful of light in silver lines—
That coaxes every seed to stretching wings,
And long-dry bark to curve with sap that climbs.

Your laughter melts the snow where shadows lay,
And grass grows wild along the winding lane;
All grayness seeps away from earthen clay—
You brush the world with color after rain.

Your love is like the spring—renewed, unstilled,
A promise, soft and green, the heart rebuilt.
