“waking up in the warm embrace of lover”

Sunlight laces through our tangled sheets,
A golden hush, the day’s first greeting there—
I wake within the haven where my heart repeats
Your steady breath, your skin, your tousled hair.

Your arm drapes softly, anchoring the light,
A gentle tether in the shifting tide;
Outside, the morning stirs with life and flight,
But peace remains wherever you reside.

I press my face along the map of you—
Familiar territory, warm and known—
The distant clocks and worries slip from view,
Here, softly held, I find myself at home.

The world can wait its turn beyond our walls;
For now, I rise in love’s sure arms, enthralled.
