“The silence of outer space”

In the hush between the planets, where the starwinds barely stir,
Lies a silence deep as midnight spread on endless silver fur.
No bird nor beast to break it, no river-song nor breeze—
Just the hum of distant sunlight as it dances through the freeze.

Out past the blue of Earth’s bright veil and Luna’s ghostly face,
Where Mars glows red with ancient dust in cold, resplendent grace,
The silence gathers galaxies, a silence vast and sure—
A velvet quilt of quietude that time cannot obscure.

Beneath the lonely rings of Saturn, round Neptune’s cobalt stone,
Comets sweep in frozen arcs, each voyage made alone.
No echo, though they thunder by in noble, trailing light—
Just the canvas of forever, stitched with stars so clean and white.

If voices called from distant worlds, we’d strain to hear the song,
Yet all is hush—a pause so great, the cosmos lingers long.
It’s more than absence, more than calm—the breath before creation,
A majesty of silence holding dreams and revelation.

So in the silence of that dark, where none but stardust roam,
We find the mystery of the heart, adrift yet never alone;
For every hush in outer space, though frozen, far and wide,
Is filled with hope, and memory, and wonder still inside.
