“teenage love”
Under the hush of the high school halls,
Where sunlight streams through locker-lined walls,
A glance, a giggle, a heart all aflame—
Teenage love, trembling and untamed.
A scribbled note folded twice with care,
Shared secrets tangled in midnight air,
The hum of a message, the flutter, the wait,
Hope spinning wildly, unable to skate.
Walks in the park as the dusk settles low,
Shy brushing of hands as confidences grow,
“Do you like me?”—scratched awkward, sincere—
The world gently whirling when they draw near.
Hearts break so easy, mend quick as the spring,
Every feeling enormous, each promise a ring.
Yet, in the soft stir of moon on the lawn,
Tenderness lingers long after it’s gone.
Oh, let them be foolish, let them believe—
In forever, in always, in hearts on their sleeve.
For youth finds its wisdom and hope in the strife—
Such is the first trembling blush of a life.
