“sad poem about what if it doesnt all work out”

What if it doesn’t all work out?
Suppose the sun forgets to rise,
And quiet corners of my doubt
Grow tangled underneath the skies.

What if each step I dared to take
Led not to promise, but to stone,
And every fragile hope I make
Is just a dream that’s overgrown?

What if the letters left unsent
Collect like rain upon my sill,
And days drift by, and time is spent
Unsure, unfinished, waiting still?

Suppose the map I charted here
Tilts off the edge, a faded line—
What if the path ahead’s less clear
And missing stars refuse to shine?

Will I remember, in the blue
Of cold and cloudy afternoons,
That not all seeds will follow through,
Not every garden bursts in bloom?

But oh, in sorrow’s gentle art,
In what-didn’t, what-could-be—
I hold the pieces of my heart,
And softly hope, and wait, and see.
