“pissed off with my man”
I stomp around the kitchen floor,
He leaves his socks behind the door—
A mountain growing, day by day,
While I just want to clear the way.
He says he’ll help—then checks his phone,
I scrub the pans, I mutter, groan.
His laughter floats from down the hall,
Unknowing what has caused my gall.
The trash can’s full, the sink is stacked,
All promises seem counteracted.
But when I face him, stern and cross,
He grins, apologizes for loss
Of memory or common sense,
Then offers up his recompense:
A cup of tea, a sheepish look,
A warm embrace I can’t forsook.
I sigh, release the gathered steam—
Life’s rarely ever as it seems.
Tomorrow’s chores will come again,
But for tonight, he’s still my friend.
