“Humorous poem about menopause”

Hot flashes storming through the night,
Blankets off and then on tight—
A thermostat that can’t decide
If it’s Sahara or an ice-slide.

Memory plays a little game:
“What’s her name? Oh—what’s her name?”
Walked into the room for what?
Forgotten now, but quite a lot.

Mood swings swirl like rollercoasters,
Hormones plotting sly imposters—
Laugh or cry, then both together,
Dizzy as the April weather.

Sweating buckets at the mall,
Fan at hand, I stroll the hall;
Sleeveless tops and open toes,
(Who needs winter? Who needs clothes?)

But oh, the freedom secretly—
No more “tick-tock” mystery,
No more shopping every moon,
A calendar of afternoons.

So here’s to sisters everywhere,
Rocking cooling scarves with flair—
Menopause: you bring your test,
We’ll meet you laughing, hot, and dressed!
