“hummingbird haiku”

A flash of green darts—
sip of sun in mid-morning,
petals hold their breath.

Whir of feathered wings
brushes the hush of the bloom—
stillness interrupted.

Droplet on the leaf,
hover, shining in the light—
summer’s smallest heart.
