“First day at school”

A backpack brimming, shoes neatly tied,
A trembling dawn where worries hide.
The sky is bright with promise new,
On sidewalks kissed by morning dew.

Pencil is sharp as the fluttering heart,
Windowed halls where journeys start.
Lockers clang—a world unknown,
Voices bubble in cheerful tone.

A teacher's smile, a guiding hand,
Crayon rainbows, stories to expand.
Names exchanged in timid streams,
Games unfolding, shared daydreams.

Lunchbox treasure, apple and bread,
Laughter weaving in threads of red.
Counting stars and spelling sun,
Learning’s magic just begun.

By bell’s last ring, fears fade away,
A patchwork quilt of sparkling day.
Tomorrow waits—with open door—
First day done; so much in store.
