“Fade away like ink in the rain”
Fade away like ink in the rain—
A ghostly script dissolving,
Letters blurred on windowpanes
And sidewalks slick, evolving
Into rivers of lost refrain
Where stories roam, resolving.
Each droplet bleeds a whispered word
Once bold upon a page;
Now syllables are gently stirred
By sky’s soft-handed rage.
Witness how the colors erred,
Merged blue with black to sage.
Memories wash along the drain,
Old lines begin to spill;
Dreams scribbled out for none remain
But linger, faint and still.
Yet softer truths in silence reign—
The ink yields to the will.
So let what must, in time, be changed
Or carried out to sea:
The rains renew, the page arranged
For what’s yet meant to be.
All moments blurred, but still exchanged
For hope’s blank poetry.
