“ence and ance suffixes”

In the land of Letters, where meanings dance,  
Two cunning twins are "ence" and "ance."  
Alike in sound, distinct in grace,  
They add their weight in wordy space.

"Silence," whispers stillness deep,  
While "guidance," promises paths to keep.  
"Patience" sits with folded hands,  
As "resistance" firmly stands.  

"Occurrence" marks a moment passed,  
With "reliance," trust is cast.  
"Attendance" takes us to our seats,  
While "preference" chooses what one greets.  

They both descend from Latin’s tongue,  
Transforming verbs as songs are sung—  
Persistence, confidence, brilliant sound,  
Abundance, fragrance, spinning round.  

Though spelling rules may swirl and sway,  
Their meanings charm our words today:  
A state, an act, a gentle hint,  
In "ence" and "ance," the suffix mint.

So next you write, or read or dance,  
Give thanks for "ence" and clever "ance."  
For in their endings, sense enhances—  
Making magic where language prances.
