“An ode to a testicle caught in a zipper”

Ode to a Testicle Caught in a Zipper

O gentle orb in cotton nest,
A peaceful passenger, at rest;
How cruel the fate, the jagged track—
A zipper’s teeth, a sneak attack.

One careless zip, one hurried hand,
Unfolds a drama, unplanned;
A gasp, a wince, a silent plea
To all that’s holy—“Mercy, please!”

Brave little sphere, with valor crowned,
You journey where the risks abound.
From playground leaps to bicycle falls,
But naught prepared for zipper’s maul.

O trusted friend through youth and bloom,
We sang in sunlight, crossed the flume;
Together faced life’s awkward test—
Now gripped in steel, you must attest.

Let doctors come with gentle balm,
Let laughter pass and time be calm;
For in this tale as old as men,
You’ll rise, and live, and laugh again.

O cherish well the lesson learned:
In haste, how dearly pain is earned;
The tales you’ll tell, heroic, grand—
The bravest ball in all the land!
