“a poem about the red hot chili pepers song scar tissue”
Scar tissue that I wish you saw—
A melody, a photograph, a scar,
A desert drive, the world unthawed,
Where sunlight pours through wounds ajar.
A slide guitar—a mournful ache
Skims over skin that’s split then healed,
The road is long, the heart will break,
But broken things are most revealed.
Anthony’s voice, so raw and worn,
Knows Venice nights and L.A. fires,
Regret and hope, together borne
On salted breeze and tangled wires.
The verses bleed old history—
“Push me up against the wall”—
Bruised youth and broken mystery
That’s written where the shadows fall.
Yet through the pain, a golden thread:
Love’s warmth that burns and then forgives,
In faded chords and things unsaid,
A spirit breaks—and still it lives.
So scar tissue—the proof we mend—
A song of longing, loss, release;
We sing along, and in the end,
Find comfort, strange, in shared disease.
